Weave Methods

There are three primary types of weave bonding methods: braided, bonded, and fusion. All three methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. But what it really comes down to is personal preference, and what you are comfortable with.

A braided weave requires a horizontal cornrows across the entire scalp with your natural hair. You'll need at least 5 cm of hair to do so. Braids are made towards the middle of the scalp. You now sew in the weave using a thick weaving thread and a "C" shaped hook or needle. You can then comb your natural hair over the weaving for a natural finish. The amount of braids to use depends on personal preference and what best fits your look. Usually no more than 3 bulk strand packs are needed. A braided weave typically lasts around two months with the proper care.

Next is the bonded weave which is slightly messy because they require bonding adhesive. The bonding adhesive attaches the weave to small sections of natural hair. This method should be used by a professional stylist because it requires more care than the braided weave. Bonded weaves last up to 2 months at most and should be removed by a professional so no damage is done to your natural hair.

Finally, there is the fusion weave. First you divide your natural hair into small sections as used in the bonded weave. Except with the fusion weave instead of bonding glue adhesive you're going to use a hot hair wax. The wax does a better job of holding the weave and natural hair together. Fusion weaves last 2 to 3 months. The fusion weave is much better than the bonded weave but a fusion weave will usually cost more.
