Preparing Black Hair

Black hair is well know for being extremely sensitive. You have to be very careful when it comes to washing and combing your black hair to ensure that it remains strong and healthy. There are many different shampoo regiments out there and a few different things that you want to look out for.

First of all, pay attention to the type of shampoo you are using. Shampoos with sulfates in them cause hair to dry out. This is about 90% of the shampoos on the market. To avoid that brittle breakage, do not use shampoos with sulfate. Also avoid washing the hair too much. Keep it down to only 3 to 4 times a month.

Ideally, with combing, you just don't do it. Combing causes stress on the hair and scalp as well as minor nicks in the hair that can weaken it. If you can possibly avoid it then it is best to keep your hair in the natural state.

If you do need to comb your hair, then make sure it is done properly. Break it into four sections. Then, with a tight grip, start combing from the bottom and work your way out to the top. If the hair is extremely thick and course, make sure that you tie back the already combed sections with a pony tail. This avoids any further tangling. Always make sure you use moisturizer on the hair to soften it and make it easy to comb. Do not use water to wet the hair, this will actually cause more dryness and tangling.

As long as you make sure to follow proper techniques with your hair, you can keep it healthy and in good shape. Just pay attention to the shampoo you use and do not use too much. Avoid the comb and when you use it, make sure you are using it properly. As long as you follow these steps you will be able to maintain beautiful and full black hair without concern over breakage and shedding.
